NBRDA and Basani sign Memorandum of Agreement to advance genomics, digital health and biotechnology innovation in Nigeria
Basani

Digital infrastructure
for Nigerian institutions.

We build the software, systems and data infrastructure that universities, businesses and federal agencies run on.

Who we are

Built for Institutions

Basani is a digital innovation company based in Nigeria. We build software and digital infrastructure for organisations that need systems to work reliably and at scale.

Our work runs from institutional portals and process digitalisation to the data infrastructure behind a federal genomics programme. What connects it is the kind of client we serve: institutions carrying real obligations to the people whose information they hold.

10+
institutional clients served.
1M+
users on platforms we have built.
₦2B+
in client revenue generated through platforms we have built.

Delivery

How Delivery Usually Goes Wrong

The common pattern

Requirements gathered onceThen never revisited, however much the brief moves
A new system that ignores the old onesBuilt as though nothing was already in place
Handover as a documentWith no one trained to use what was delivered
Support that ends with the invoiceThe day it is paid, the relationship closes
A vendor you can only reach by emailNo one to sit down with when something breaks

A system is delivered, and whether anyone uses it becomes the client's problem.

How we work

Working checkpoints throughout the buildNot one reveal at the end, when changes cost most
Integration with what you already runReplacing only what genuinely needs replacing
Training for the staff who will operate itThe people using it daily, not just the sponsor
Maintenance and lifecycle supportAfter go-live, with defined response expectations
A team in Nigeria you can meet in personSame time zone, same accountability

A system is running, with trained staff and a team still reachable.

Federal mandate

Building Nigeria’s National Genomics Infrastructure

In 2026 Basani entered a Memorandum of Agreement with the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency to design, implement and operate the digital infrastructure for Nigeria’s national genomics and digital health programme.

It is the largest engagement we hold, and the one that most clearly sets out what we build for. Consent that participants can withdraw and have that withdrawal reach every downstream system. Registries that resolve identity at national scale without collapsing it into the record itself. Interoperability with national health systems and with the international standards that make Nigerian data usable in global research. The obligations are the same ones every institutional system carries, at the scale where getting them wrong is not recoverable.

Services

What We Build

Five service lines, from institutional software and process digitalisation through to the consent, registry and access systems behind a national genomics programme. Most engagements draw on more than one.

Digital Health Platforms

Health data systems and the interoperability layers between them, including HL7 FHIR R4 exchange with facility systems and national health registries.

Genomics Data Infrastructure

Consent, registry, custody and access systems for population-scale genomic programmes, built to international standards.
