Method
How We Approach It
We build to the published standards of the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health, so a national resource can be queried by international collaborators without the data leaving the country.
Residency is enforced in the architecture rather than promised in a contract. Federated query means the transfer never has to happen.
We operate infrastructure. We do not own the data or hold the specimens, and the systems are built so that ownership stays where the law puts it.
Precedent
Nigeria Nearly Lost 130,000 Genomes
A Nigerian genomics company spent four years building a biorepository of samples and clinical data from around 130,000 West African participants. Its holding company was registered in the United States. Its biobank was in Nigeria.
When the company failed, control sat with the offshore entity. By late 2023 the repository was being shopped to buyers. Reporting on the dispute put the biodata of 100,000 Nigerians on offer at three million dollars, against a company once valued at a hundred and seventy million. In 2025 the Federal High Court in Lagos granted an injunction halting the sale.
The injunction held. But it was a court order obtained late, in litigation the participants were never party to. The infrastructure that would have made it unnecessary did not exist. That is what this service line is for.
